What is “Your Window to the
Future?”
“Your Window to
the Future” is a selection of classes designed to help you acquire basic
computer skills. We don’t want anyone to be left behind in this age of
technology.
We provide one-on-one visual instruction with the help of a laptop computer
and a projection unit, followed up with time to practice what you have
learned at our Technology Center.
Who is it for?
“Your Window to
the Future” is for anyone interested in learning basic computer skills.
Space is available for small groups of older adults, adults who have
little-to-no computer experience, parents educating their own children,
and middle and high school students accompanied by an adult.

Call the
library to reserve your place in class, limited space.
You must call by noon
the day before.
Two people must enroll for the class to be held.

Basic Computer
Skills I
Basic skills and terminology for using Microsoft
Windows, including; turning on a computer, using the mouse, and opening
a program.

Skills II
More basic skills and terminology for Microsoft
Windows, including; recognizing features of the desktop and keyboard,
selecting text, printing and saving files.
Computer mouse skills required.

Basic Microsoft Word
Basic skills in creating and manipulating a
document. Learn selecting text, formatting text, using undo, and using
cut, copy, and paste.

Basic Internet
Learn how to maneuver around the Internet, use
Web addresses, do basic searches, find ways to search better, and
discover different search engines. Basic

Using Yahoo!, for demonstration purposes, learn
how to sign-up for a free email account and use email features, such as;
replying, forwarding, and attaching files.

Know Your Library
From home, work or the library use the
Louisburg Library online catalog to search for library items. Learn
search tips, how to renew items, view your account, request Interlibrary

for Kids
Resources for
parents, kids (kindergarten to high school) and educators. Search
reliable atlases, dictionaries, encyclopedias, information, images,
videos, and educational activities.

Microsoft Word
Review tips from Basic Microsoft Word and learn
how to create lists & tables, change line spacing, add page numbers,
WordArt, and other text formatting. Basic
computer and keyboard knowledge required.

Publisher
Learn to create professional looking flyers,
brochures, and more. Examples of what you will learn include; creating
and manipulating a text box, giving a text box a border, fill color, and
