Great Libraries Need Great Friends

The Friends of the Library are a group of community members who support the library through fundraising, events, volunteer opportunities, and advocacy.

Their support helps make special library programs possible, including Read Across America and SummerBASH. The Friends have also funded important renovations, equipment, and resources that benefit the entire community, including a laminating machine, new seating, a programming hand sink, adult study carrels, and much more.

Our History

Friends of Library was started in 1982 and is a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation. Our mission is to encourage community participation in projects that enhance the library and its usefulness by raising and managing funds intended for supplemental benefits to the library.

Building Renovations & New Spaces

The Friends have helped create and improve spaces throughout the library, including:

  • Purchasing a table and privacy dividers in the Adult Room to provide a more private space for adults to use computers
  • Added a self-contained sink in "The Room" for crafts and baking programming events
  • Provided storage units in "The Room" for program items and events

Showing Up in the Community

  • The Friends are active in the community throughout the year. Their activities include:
  • Hosting an annual book sale fundraiser at Fox Hall
  • Bringing in an author each year for an Author Talk, sometimes accompanied by an auction
  • Helping spread awareness throughout the community when the library was pursuing a bond
